Prayer of Salvation

Salvation – what is salvation? To start, it is a gift from God; a very important gift. Salvation is an act of God’s grace when He delivers us from sin and its consequences, which include spiritual death and separation from God. Freedom from sin and bondage allows a peace within and a restored relationship with Him. This gift happens when we put our faith in Jesus Christ, not by works. Salvation is only possible because of Christ’s sacrificial death and resurrection. The Holy Spirit indwells us, empowers us, guides us, and seals our redemption. He died for our sins so that we may have everlasting life with Him in heaven.

If you are not convinced you are saved or need guidance on how to pray, examples are provided below. The main components of a salvation prayer include confessing your sins, asking for forgiveness, expressing your belief in Jesus Christ, and accepting Him as your Lord and Savior.

Read through the following examples and use your own words speaking to God from the heart. Do not worry about details. He knows your heart.

  • Lord, forgive me for my sins and save me. Help me to turn away from my old ways and follow Your will. I believe in Jesus and ask Him to be my Lord and Savior. Cleanse me with Your blood and fill me with Your Holy Spirit. Amen.
  • Lord Jesus, this is my simple prayer to you. I know that I am a sinner and that I often fall short of the glory of God. No longer will I close the door when I hear You knocking. By faith, I gratefully receive Your gift of salvation. I am ready to trust You as my Lord and Savior.
  • Lord Jesus, Come into my life. I believe you died and rose from the grave. I believe you live eternally in heaven. Cleanse me from all unrighteousness. Forgive me of all my sins. Move into my heart. I make you my Lord and Savior. Thank you for your sacrifice.
  • Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for my sin. Please forgive me. Come into my life. I receive You as my Lord and Savior. Now, help me to live for you the rest of this life. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
